Well done! I just found your site through a review of Genuine fractals. I have been at the Portland Head Light and took a lot of snapshops, but this is a photograph!

Is there more information on the process? the process page on your site replicates the initial page’s text, but nothing other….

    Ron,

    Thank you for the compliment.

I’m working on my first process article for another one of my images, and I am also working to create on on how I prepare my photos for prints. If you are talking specifically about this picture, I haven’t really thought about doing a process post on it.

The quick version though: - 5 exposure HDR process in Photomatix Pro - Some minor tweaking in Aperture - Nik’s Color Efex Pro -> Graduated Neutral Density Filter and Brillance & Warmth - Nik’s Silver Efex Pro for the B&W conversion

I can provide more detail if you want.

Description

When I was planning my trip to Maine, one thing I really wanted to do was be at the Portland Head Light at sunset one evening. After dinner at Mabel’s Lobster Claw in Kennebunkport, we headed up the coast to try to get to the lighthouse. Of course, in a fit of excellent luck, a car essentially spontaneously combusted on the turnpike, causing a major traffic jam. After a little “creative driving”, we managed to make it to the lighthouse about 10 minutes before they were planning to shut the gate. On the plus side, the park ranger seemed more concerned about getting us to leave than the fact I was climbing on some huge rock to take some of my shots.
