On a podcast (probably net@nite) Leo Laporte gave a good explanation about how Web 2.0 has a lot to do with “presence” on the internet. The following sites are different examples of how I maintain my “presence”. I ranked Jaiku first because it explains the most about my current activity. I also have a mini-tumblelog on Tumblr and a profile on Wink that each give a good summary of my web presence. My TumbleLog is a series of “quick hitters” and other information about what is current occupying my time, while I have another TumbleLog, also using Tumblr, that is rather clean, but still contains a number of RSS feeds from my other sites and a good number of videos I’ve picked up from various online video sites. Twitter is a site that’s tough to explain us you’re a part of it, but the basic idea is an explanation of what I’m up to at the current moment. Facebook and LinkedIn are two social networking sites, the former having more of a social atmosphere and the latter being more professional in nature. I’ve got a page on Virb, another social networking site, but that layout is kind of weak, and I finally broke down and got profiles on MySpace and Bebo to round out my social network profiles. Last.fm keeps track of my listening habits by tracking what I listen to on various iPods and I put a link to my iminlikewithyou profile, but you have to be a member of that to see anything. Finally, I’ve got my two sites for uploading, storing and displaying photos and my del.icio.us links.
